About
"We have to see creation as tracing a path between impossibilities"
Gilles Deleuze
Permeating the fabric of culture creation, the arts and art practices play a large part in language dissemination, symbol creation, ritual, and interpersonal dialogue. It is a necessary part of human life, making meaning of our individual and collective experiences. Arts are a universal tool for story-telling, testimony and societal change, they exist in a multitude of forms and are created through a multitude of processes and methodologies. An artist may create to have their reality confirmed, or seek to revealing their innermost parts. Art may also serve as individuation, a voice from the margins of society, or to communicate in a private language understood by only one's self. The work featured here is the result of a long term, cultivated inward search, created through processes that are borrowed from multiple art forms to create new meanings from new methodologies. Telling stories through the eyes of one form to create unique perspectives in another, it as much about the process as it is about a result or final product. This work in its essence is about the human capacity for creativity, the ability to work outside prescribed bounds; reaching into tight spaces where words don't yet exist. An equally creative approach also serves the research and teaching methods featured here. Grounded in Philosophy, perspectives in Dramaturgy and Art Theory, existential questions are given form using tools from sociology and arts practice to tell the untold stories.
